Lutron's Caseta Can Be Commanded Through Amazon Echo's Alexa

The Caseta wireless lighting system from Lutron is now compatible with the smart Amazon Echo speaker, meaning that natural language voice controls can be made via Alexa.

Lutron's in-wall dimmers and plug-in lamp dimmers are controlled by a Smart Bridge, which attaches to a Wi-Fi router in order to send wireless commands to Amazon's connected device. With this system in place, homeowners are able to make commands from anywhere in a room, even when there is music or a TV playing in the background. Some of the controls that consumers have access to include turning individual or groups of lights on or off at once, as well as making adjustments to dim or brighten a light source.

A command like: "Alexa, dim the table lamp" will automatically reduce brightness by 25%, but consumers can get ultra-precise by asking Alexa to dim lights in 1% increments.
