The Luffa Stoolita is Made Out of Coffee Grounds, Soil and More

The Luffa Stoolita is an organically crafted seating solution made with a variety of natural materials to give it a decidedly eco-friendly profile. The stool is crafted out of luffa, spent coffee grounds and soil rich in clay that acts as the binding agent between the two former materials. The stool consists of three components including the legs, seat and cushion, which combine to create the familiar silhouette of a common furniture piece but with a decidedly naturalistic profile.

The Luffa Stoolita is the design work of Paul Edward Liu, Tim (Ting-Hao) Chen and Justin A, and was created as a project at the Columbia University GSAPP under Professor Lola Ben Alon and the team at the Natural Materials Lab.
