A Massive Sculpture Will Be Transformed into the World's Longest Slide

An observation deck for the 2012 olympics in London will soon be transformed into the world's longest slide. The project was recently approved and will use the basic structure of the sculpture to build a slide around it. The site is meant to be a tourist attraction for the city.

The slide will be built 249 feet above the ground and will spiral around the sculpture five times before a 164-foot downhill drop back to the ground. The tube built for the slide will be made out of stainless steel and will feature transparent areas for sliders to look through.

The top of the slide provides expansive views of London and overlooks Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and east London. Thrill seekers will descent down the world's longest slide for an astonishing 37 seconds.
