Users can now see the current train and bus times with the new live Google Maps updates. Currently, the updates are in ten cities within India, including major cities like Dehli, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, and more. The live updated information will even be available to people using rickshaw transportation. When traveling, users will be provided with real-time updates to relevant travel information.
The live Google Maps updates work by using traffic data to give updates for public transportation. For travel information regarding trains, Google partnered with a start-up called Sigmoid Labs, using its 'Where is My Train' app, Google Maps presents the information from the app into its own Google Maps app. Google purchased the start-up last year and because of this, it is able to integrate the data into the Maps app seamlessly.
