Cloud-Like Orb Installations

These High-Tech Lights Resemble Futuristic Robot Clouds

Artist and designer Dan Corson created this cloud-like orb installation that sits above the Amazon Plaza in Washington. The artist created the installation as a tribute to the white fluffy clouds that are overlooked on a daily basis.

This particular display merely used clouds as an inspiration, but took the design a step further. This creation, titled ‘Digital Clouds,’ only vaguely resembles a cloud. Using semi-transparent discs made of glass and wildly bright LED lights, each cloud-like orb looks more futuristic and robotic than organic. The glass discs resemble restaurant serving trays, which have been colored blue, teal and white.

During the night, the Digital Clouds are illuminated to disperse psychedelic dots of light onto the ground. This installation allowed the artist to fuse together the city’s temperamental weather and digital storage.
