Learning Lights is a team that has designed low-cost kits that transform bottles and jars into solar-powered reading lamps for children and families living in countries where access to electricity is scant. The kits provide are an inexpensive and healthy set of tools for countries to create their own power solutions and subsequently open up the opportunity for reading at night.
Learning Lights was recently announced as one of seven in the first class of startups from Seattle-based social entrepreneurship incubator Fledge. Learning Lights' co-founders met while obtaining their MBAs in Sustainable Business Development at Bainbridge Graduate Institute.
Learning Lights also boasts its dedication to equipping people with knowledge and experience in addition to the raw materials that make up the simple lighting solution that is also a renewable energy source.
