Magnificent Mountainside Mansions

The Lakecrest Residence Offers Spectacular Views

Aka Architecture + Design designed this sprawling 5,000-square-foot estate, dubbed the 'Lakecrest Residence,' in Whistler, Canada.

The home has access to views of the rugged terrain and surrounding mountains from its glorious perch atop a breathtaking cliff. The architects had to accommodate for the difficulties of the terrain, but it was well worth the panoramic sights, which are available from every room in the house. The mountain views are offset by the lake and forest, creating a stunning, well-rounded environment.

The public areas of the home, which encourage social interaction, follow a circulatory spine. The result is that each of these spaces look towards the lake and mountains. The circulation ends at the Great Room, the culmination of all of the social spaces, which cantilevers over the cliff.
