The iconic image of the Rubik's Cube has been adapted into everything from mugs to salt shakers, but the KUB+ Coffee Table is one of the few to reinterpret the strategy behind the game for the purpose of an entirely new function.
Designed by Fabio Teixeira, the project concept is based on a kit of individual parts that make up the frame of the shelving unit, and a collection of colored squares that get applied to the outside. The user is thus afforded the opportunity to organize and build his own hexahedron, leaving clusters of cubbies for the storage of things like books and other possessions.
Including no glue or nails, just simply a system of holes and wooden dowels to connect each piece of ink lacquered plywood, the KUB+ Coffee Table can be taken apart and reassembled based on one's own playful preference.
