Ridge-Impacted Residences

Daniel Marshall's Korora House is Inspired by Its Surroundings

The Korora House shows that no matter what kind of residence you want and wish to build, sometimes the best thing is to look around at your surroundings for inspiration. Not only will it often yield rather unique results, but seeking inspiration in the everyday will ensure that the structure also blends with the land rather than resisting it.

Designed by Daniel Marshall Architects, the Korora House is located in Waiheke, New Zealand. With a stunning view of the Hauraki Gulf as well as a the lush scenery of Waiheke Island, the Korora House rests on the edge of a ridge so as to take it all in. By working in the contour of this ridge, they minimized the impact on the landscape.

With open courtyards, a pool and an overall minimalist concept, the Korora House succeeds at this wonderfully.
