KIPP North Carolina Public Schools has introduced three new electric school buses to serve its student population. This venture is made possible through a collaboration with "Highland Electric Fleets, North America's leading provider of Electrification-as-a-Service (EaaS), along with local partners Duke Energy and Miller Electric."
Aside from the obvious sustainability benefits of this move to electric passengers, the community and the operator will also benefit from cabin noise and improved ride quality, alongside operational objectives like long-term cost reduction and diminished community noise pollution.
The deployment was partially funded by a federal environmental grant, and it includes the necessary charging infrastructure for the buses. The venture represents the initial phase of a broader adoption plan for the district.
