Stripped-Down Structure Shoots

Josef Schulz Takes Away Defining Features of Buildings in Photos

You are probably already familiar with Josef Schulz's unique body of work. Last year, his Sign Out series was featured on Trend Hunter. With the same abstract and artistic approach he used in that series, Josef Schulz has now turned his attention to buildings. Although they may look like shipping containers at first glance, his Sachliches photo series actually features structures that have had their defining features stripped from them, making each building seem like an sculptural monument rather than places that are actually used.

Born in Bischofsburg and based in Düsseldorf, Josef Schulz was inspired by Bernd and Hilla Becher, who photographed variations of single types of industrial structures. Through Photoshop, Josef Schulz took this to the next level by altering iconic buildings of the past.
