Glasgow-based creative and former musician Jim Lambie turns otherwise boring floor spaces into stunning and psychedelic-looking works of art by only using tape. He moved on from creating vinyl records to creating vinyl tape carpets.
Acting as a floor covering, the tape adds dimension, design and decor to any living space. Each installation takes numerous weeks to complete and countless rolls of tape. Upon completion, he names each design after one of his band's songs. For instance, he has named one of his past works 'Careless Whisper' after their hit song.
All of the works are truly captivating and seamlessly stand out thanks to their bright color palettes and intricate designs. Many look like optical illusion because they cover a vast area, while others act as a quirky addition to small staircases.
