British designer Lara Bohinc has a focus on crafting pieces of futuristic modernity and incorporates that idea when designing her Jesmonite lighting collection. The lights are made to resemble unearthed relics, made of only steel and jesmonite. It simulates what a blend of contemporary and geometric objects would look like if it were to be rediscovered after being buried or lost for centuries. The Jesmonite lighting collection is made by hand, and by crossing steel rods to create a grid structure before it's attached to the base foundation.
Small LED lights are then added to the piece for illumination and finally, a mixture of marble dust and jesmonite coats the entire piece. The designer plays with the ironic concepts of "ancient modernity" and "future past," creating pieces that are timeless without confinement of a specific time period.
