For those who think that books are obsolete, simply feast one's eyes on artist Jean-Michel Rubio's incredibly sculpture. He has fashioned 3000 paperbacks into a giant giraffe. Although this might not be a case for reading printed books, it does show that strikingly imaginative things can still be done with them, things that doesn't include unfolding a fantastical story in people's minds.
Measuring over six feet tall, Jean-Michel Rubio's book giraffe was installed on the top of the Canebière Marseille in France. Although it has since been burnt down at the hands of vandals, the sculpture made quite an impact on locals and visitors alike.
Before that unfortunate event, Jean-Michel's sculpture was turned into a terminal Book Exchange by the Book Art Collective, which not only encouraged reading, but socializing as well.
