Jean-françois Fourtou Alters Spaces' Measurements to Create an Illusi

Paris-born artist Jean-François Fourtou recreates his own version of the childhood story Alice in Wonderland. This series entitled Mes Maisons (My Houses) is a contemporary version of one of the many adventures experienced by Alice. This work consists of a surreal perception of size.

This optical illusion is created by altering the size scale of the background of each subject. For instance, one subject is located inside a tiny dollhouse, while another one is inside a giant house. This trick is achieved by technologically manipulating the size ratio of both the person and the environment. The result is both disturbing and comical, reminding audiences of what Alice has to go through in the novel.

The distorted art pieces by Jean-François Fourtou magically explore perceptions vs. reality.
