The book 'Japanese Tales' was recently published by Folio Society in the United Kingdom. It features a mix of popular and obscure stories from medieval Japan but a curiosity about culture is not the only thing that makes this book desirable.
With over 200 Japanese tales, the publication boasts an electric gallery of illustrations that have been heavily researched to fit the thematic of the product. The book boasts eight full-color drawings that have been realized with ink and brush on watercolor paper. For efficiency purposes and to stay in tune with contemporary techniques, the illustrations have been further perfected and colored in Adobe Photoshop.
The artist behind the illustrations of 'Japanese Tales' is Yuko Shimizu, while Raquel Leis Allion offered art direction and design.
