In collaboration with architecture firm Estudio 3.14, Norberto Miranda designs these inflatable structures which are meant to host 'Tierra Fértil.' This is a traveling exhibition that explores "the traditions and intersections of Mexican gastronomy, music, and culture." The fact that the shelters are balloon-like and, therefore, lightweight allows for the exhibit to change location with ease.
The shape of the inflatable structures is also strategic. The shelters take on the form of a bean — a token of recognition as the collaborators wanted to recognize the importance of the food in "Mexican culture and the Mesoamerican agricultural practices." While the exterior is playfully patterned, Norberto Miranda and Estudio 3.14 leave the inside of the inflatable structures empty to allow for optimal curatorial freedom.
The debut of the Tierra Fértil exhibition took place in Papalotla, México.
