Indus OS Created the First Regional Smartphone for Emerging Markets

Indus OS developed the first regional operating system for smartphones in the world. Formerly known as Firstouch, the company makes smartphones more accessible for the Indian market by offering 12 different regional languages in a simplified version of Android. The redesigned operating system uses a more diverse keyboard for the emerging market and overcomes the barrier that language creates.

With more than 2 million words and predictive text features in each of the dozen dialects represented in the regional operating system, context is an important part of the user experience in emerging markets like India. By adapting so, Indus OS is in a great place to grow within the local technology industry. They also have their own app store and hope to introduce a text to speech feature soon in nine different languages.
