Indoor Tree Trunks

Project ‘Quercus' Uses a Cast of a 150 Year-Old Oak Trunk

The ‘Quercus’ water barrel project was made my Weyers & Borms and features a cast of a 150 year-old oak trunk.

The unique water barrel is made from a polyester and fibreglass and looks like a real-life tree stump.

The project was aimed around releasing collected water via a small tap that was built into the trunk.

Implications - Today's eco-conscious consumer is constantly seeking ways to become closer to nature on a daily basis, resulting in pieces like the Quercus. With a rising sense of mass eco consciousness, the design industry is seeing many more interior and fashion pieces that incorporate a sense of naturalism. Companies can capitalize on this movement by incorporating a woodland aesthetic or the use of recycled materials into product manufacturing.
