The integration allows for users to set up their fingerprints to perform functions such as unlocking the device and processing payments. This fresh Synaptics optical sensor has been in development for years. Its system is programmed by emerging through the spaces within the pixels in an OLED screen and scanning the specific fingerprints. LCD displays do not work in the same way because they require a backlight.
The phone has yet to be named but Synaptics has already entered mass production with this new mechanic. The Synaptics Clear ID optimizes the in-display fingerprint sensors to deliver high-resolution scanning with a single touch through full-cover glass, without any buttons or infinity displays with bezels.
