Sofie Østerby and Fredericia Design the Hydro Glass Vase

Danish designer Sofie Østerby works in collaboration with Fredericia on the Hydro Glass Vase following their previous work together back in 2020. It was originally for the Complements line, which is a selection of objects that were created alongside emerging designers in Denmark. It was originally made from solid brass and the new iteration is made of mouth-blown crystalline glass.

The shape of the case was influenced by ancient Greek vessels, traditional pottery, and ceramic vases. It was important for Sofie Østerby to intricately pay attention to material nature, texture, and timelessness. The clear material is a modern iteration of a historically old art form. It comes in different sizes and has a unique structure.
