The Hoxton Charlottenburg Hotel Opens in Berlin

The new Hoxton Charlottenburg hotel opens in Berlin, which is the first German outpost of the franchise. The interiors have a contrasting architectural style that stands out in the affluent neighborhood. It features 234 rooms and embodies an aesthetic concept that is conjured up by the brand's in-house design team AIME Studios dubbed 'rough nouveau.' There are also brutalist influences that are seen in the design, translated through the oversized concrete columns throughout the lobby paired with textured plaster.

Charlie Cruickshank, design associate at AIME Studios tells Dezeen, "By drawing inspiration from the surrounding area and celebrating the contrasting styles, we were looking to create a unique interpretation of this corner of the city, which will be recognisable to locals and let visitors get a sense of the area. One of the features we noticed many times while walking around Charlottenburg were the tiled doorways with elaborate designs. Tiles are used in many decorative and creative ways throughout the area and they are also integrated into some of our joinery pieces."
