Designed for a public art installation competition dubbed 'The House as a Metaphor,' the Modular House pavilion is a house sculpture that defies logic in only the best ways. Taking on a surreal form as though it leapt out of someone's dream, the house sculpture is comprised of all-white, windowless versions of classic homes that have been stacked precariously on top of each other.
Designed by Michael Jantzen, the house sculpture is nevertheless meant as more than a work of art. As its name gives away, it is a pavilion that provides a public space that people can gather around. Whether for communal purposes or simply to seek a bit of shade, the house sculpture is a striking creation.
