The 'Small House on Tracks' Will Serve As a Commune For Artists

The Small House on Tracks is a home, designed by Polish architecture students Tomasz Zablotny and Pawel Maszota, consists of a number of expandable tiny homes that can be moved around on existing rail tracks in Gdansk Shipyard.

Each tiny dwelling would be constructed from laminated wood and steel and would measure only 209 x 150 x 243 centimeters when unoccupied or being transported. When someone is in the dwelling, the home would pull outwards and increase its length by an additional meter.

Since the homes would sit on existing rail-tracks, they would offer an element of flexibility and could be moved around easily. Small House on Tracks is clearly an audacious but fascinating project that should provoke thought on innovative architecture in cities.
