The House in Yoro is Deceivingly Bare

Airhouse Design Office designed 'House in Yoro,' a minimalistic family house located in Gifu, Japan.

Simplicity is key in this home, which focuses on open spaces, minimal color and natural light. The living, kitchen and dining spaces are integrated into a single room. Two sets of sliding glass doors open out towards a terrace, providing the multi-purpose room with both light and a view. In the center of the room, a delicate staircase floats towards a small alcove that can be used as an office.

The house is purposefully bare and neutral in the main, public areas. However, the designers decided to intersperse pops of vivid color in private areas such as the bedrooms and bathrooms.
