Hourglass Sculptural Home Decor

Daniel Arsham's Hourglass Blue Features Cyclical Designs

Artist Daniel Arsham introduces a new limited edition sculpture entitled 'Hourglass Blue.' It is a home decor item that embodies function, beauty, and time intersections. The piece functions like an hourglass and is shaped like one too, constructed from glass materials with blue sand within. It features two cast objects on either side of the hourglass -- one side features a camera and the other is home to a quartz crystal.

When either side rotates, it uncovers whats buried in blue sand on the opposing side. This is a sense of 'cyclical archaeology,' Arsham explains to be a consistent rotation of whats to be burial and discovery. Arsham explains that the Hourglass Blue is "fictional archeology, material manipulation, time travel, science fiction and the occult, and engineering of our expectations of how objects should function and act."
