High Dynamic Range Effects Were Used in This Surreal Shoot

High dynamic range effects were used in this photography series by Eduardo Abreu to add extra intensity to the character of focus. The main character, an axe murderer, stands at the edge of his farm with an axe in hand, covered in blood as if satisfied from a recent kill.

The shoot is certainly disturbing mainly because of the HHR effects. These effects intensify the shadows in the image and enhance the light. This strong contrast dramatizes the image making it look surreal and unnatural. This unnatural way of viewing the sky, ground and the homicidal farmer is what makes a shoot like this look so terrifying.

Even in the image where the farmer is smiling, his face is covered in shadow, adding a sinister tone to his smile. This is one man you cannot trust, even with his seemingly friendly smile.
