Havaianas & MARKET Created Color-Changing Thermo-Reactive Flip-Flops

Flip-flop brand Havaianas and MARKET, a Los Angeles-based streetwear label, collaborated on a pair of heat-reactive sandals that change their appearance in response to the temperature. The color-changing sandals can be found in the brand's Top and Tradi Zori styles and they change from black to red when exposed to heat. The footbeds of the flip-flips offer a playful warning: "caution: hot sandal."

For this collaboration with Havaianas, MARKET founder Mike Sherman was inspired by how hot the stand could get on Brazil’s beaches. When the sandals are slipped on, the thermo-reactive technology gets to work and turns the all-black sandals a bright shade of red, visualizing the feeling of bare feet on hot sand.

As summer temperatures soar, brands are coming up with all sorts of unique ways to engage consumers and inspire safe time spent outdoors.
