Heartbeat-Tracking Cameras

This Heartbeat Measuring Software Requires No Skin Contact to Work

The healthcare market is seeing new innovations coming about almost daily, with this new heartbeat measuring camera and software being the latest as an effective way to keep an eye on patient's levels.

Developed by a team of scientists at the Utah State University, the system utilizes a camera and software that will measure a person's heartbeat without having to make any contact with the skin. It does this by detecting the amount of green light that is being absorbed and reflected by the skin in response to the amount of blood being pumped. This gives an accurate heartbeat measuring capability that could be incorporated into baby monitors, exercise equipment and much more.

The new system is being developed for commercialization purposes by the startup Photorithm Inc.
