Suspended Orca Seats

Artist Porky Hefer Turns a Killer Whale into a Hanging Chair Design

Surrealist designer Porky Hefer recently put together a hanging chair design that takes inspiration from some of the largest known mammals swimming in the world's waters. The seat is a suspended structure made up to look like a killer whale inviting the user to sit inside the beast's mouth.

The chair, dubbed Fiona Blackfish, is made from a variety of colored black and white leather that is stitched together to form the gapping mouth of the sea animal. The inside is lined with 3D leather teeth and a velvet tongue that acts as a cozy seat. The modular design of the chair hangs from the ceiling inviting consumers to sit inside the whale's mouth and enjoy the sensation of floating.

The combination of surrealism and design allows consumers to add whimsy with artistic pieces in their everyday decor.
