Explosive Charges Shaped the Blast Chair by Guy Mishaly

Designer Guy Mishaly takes a risky approach to furniture design by using explosive charges. Since each bomb that detonates bursts in a unique pattern, no two steel seats will be completely alike. Mishaly creates steel cylinders from scrap pieces of metal and then he uses explosives to create the unique designs.

Although the seat making process is quite violent, the end result is just the opposite. The Blast Stool is neither sharp nor dangerous and its surfaces are simply bent or wrapped, so that they are all smooth and comfortable. Guy Mishaly was inspired to create his BLAST chair by using and manipulating energy that is usually used for harm and instead create something great with it.
