A Taiwan based startup, Gogoro, has stated that it will launch the Gogoro GoShare program in the upcoming month. The program will get an initial release in Taoyuan City, with approximately 1,000 Gogoro smart scooters. Gogoro scooters are popular as they offer users a convenient way to remove and charge batteries.
Users are able to sign up for the Gogoro GoShare by downloading either the iOS or Android app, then uploading a photo of their driver's license. Gogoro implements an AI-based facial recognition software to check if the picture matches the user.
The company has not indicated a price point but has stated the program will be competitive with existing public transportation. The company is also working with the municipality to add other perks to the program, such as free parking.
