Transparent Tree Abodes

The Glass Tea Houses by Swatt Miers is a Quiet Getaway

A homeowner and his daughter in Silicon Valley, California, had found their perfect getaway in the form of 'Glass Tea Houses.' These three stunning glass pavilions each have their own unique purpose: sleeping, meditation and creative thinking.

Constructed by Swatt Miers Architects, each Tea House is designed with mainly glass and transparent steel, and has little to no impact on the environment. Its minimal footprint design lowers grading and preserves the rooting system of the surrounding native oaks.

The orignal plan for the area was to build a series of tree houses, but the quiet forest helped turn the houses into the magnificent oasis it is now. Each house still provides the same amount of distance to nature that a tree house would, but with a much more accessible design.
