Amber-Encased Furniture

The Future Archaeology Collection by Studio Nucleo Appears Fossilized

The pieces of furniture featured in the Future Archaeology collection appear to be undergoing a rapid form of fossilization. As though encased in amber, they could easily be likened to certain archeological finds that have been discovered over the years. In reality, they are made out of wood and epoxy resin to create the illusion that they are from an ancient civilization.

The Future Archaeology collection was created by Studio Nucleo, a collective of artists and designers directed by Piergiorgio Robino based in Torino, Italy. Designed in collaboration with the Gabrielle Ammann Gallery, the pieces in the Future Archaeology collection have been appropriately dubbed 'Wood Fossils.' Trendland writes that the visually stunning and faux-historical collection is "a game of presence and absence, of lightness and weight, challenging the law of gravity."
