Alcohol as Racecar Fuel

The Whiskey-Fueled SR4

Alternative fuel sources like hydrogen, electricity and biofuel will certainly power automobiles of the present and near future. I’ll take this Radical SR4 racecar over those any day, even if it’s not particularly budget-friendly at £26 a liter. It’s fueled with Bruichladdich malt whiskey, the world’s only whiskey that’s distilled four times. The car is allegedly Tim Greaves’ Le Mans finishing racecar and is said to not be modified in any form.

James May of BBC’s Top Gear is at the helm, with wine journalist and broadcaster Oz Clarke riding shotgun. The duo attempted the demonstration for their new series, Oz & James’ Great British Adventure, in which they tour the country in a 1982 Rolls Royce Corniche convertible sipping Great Britain’s top tipples. This footage was taken by a bystander. A rough life indeed.
