Frozen Yogurt Pearls are Coated in Edible Packaging

Frozen Yogurt Pearls are an innovative product, developed by Paris-based lab WikiFoods, packaged entirely in edible packaging skin made from real, organic fruit.

Each unit of Frozen Yogurt Pearls consists of a scoop-sized amount of Stonyfield-brand frozen yogurt in a coconut, strawberry or peach-flavored layer of packaging. The packaging makes use of WikiFoods' proprietary WikiCells food packaging technology, which it is hoped could one day reduce the environmental impact, financial damages and inefficiency brought about by plastic packaging.

This biodegradable package is made from a sugar cane cellulose that is similar to dried pancake mix.

The developers of this innovative product admit that it will take a while before people are comfortable picking up frozen yoghurt that doesn't have typical packaging, but this could change with time.
