The Frozen in a Bubble Series Features Surreally Crystallized Bubbles

Washington-based artist and photographer Angela Kelly recently created a series of amazing photographs of frozen bubbles called Frozen in a Bubble. Inspired by the frigid temperatures, she created a homemade bubble-making solution composed of karo syrup, dish soap and water in order to blow bubbles with her son. In conjunction with the frozen -9 to -12 degree temperatures, Kelly was able to photograph the magnificently surreal crystallized orbs.

"We blew the bubbles across the top of our frozen patio table and also upon the hood of my car and then we watched in awe as each individual bubble froze with their own unique patterns […] they would begin to deflate and implode in on themselves making them look like alien shapes or in some cases shatter completely leaving them to look like a cracked egg," Kelly explains.
