In order to entice mobile users to stray from the ties that hold them to a mobile carrier, tech startup FreedomPop is offering a really sweet deal—unlimited Wi-Fi access across the United States for only $5 a month.
Citing that over 90% of the data consumed by mobile users is done over a Wi-Fi network connection, FreedomPop connects its mobile users automatically to 10 million hotspots across the US. Once signed up, the service will work across multiple mobile devices through either the Android or iOS app. While other mobile carriers are putting a focus on offering premium LTE services, FreedomPop hopes to draw in new customers who are looking for better coverage, whether they are already set up on a data plan or not.
