The Freedom Red Reserve Lager is Based on a Recipe by George Washington

Budweiser's Freedom Red Reserve Lager is a unique new beer that boasts a formula that was inspired by a handwritten recipe from George Washington himself.

In 1757, Washington penned a journal entry titled "To Make Small Beer," which details ingredients, processing methods and bottling instructions. As such, the summery Freedom Red Reserve Lager is brewed with toasted barley grains and a hint of real molasses, just as the note details.

The limited-edition beer is set to be available throughout the spring to the fall, with a portion of the proceeds going towards Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of fallen and disabled service members. Additionally, Budweiser’s VP of marketing Ricardo Marques describes that "we have also selected a special group of veterans to brew this freedom reserve, so there’s a beautiful story of giving back to their fellow service members and their families."
