Fraunhofer Spider Robot Assists Humans in Dangerous Situations

Despite how creepy the Fraunhofer Spider Robot may look, it was created to provide assistance in emergency situations.

The Fraunhofer Spider Robot was created specifically to assist in hazardous situations that involve poisonous substance. Knowing the potential difficulties of navigating under certain environments, hydraulic limbs were created by the Fraunhofer Institute. The spider can bend and extend its limbs and each limb has "bellows drives so that the legs can move forward and turn as needed,"
according to the research lab. This means that if an environment is too dangerous to enter or just impossible to get in to, this bot will get the job done. It also helps responders by broadcasting live images and of course tracking down leaked gas and any other hazard.

The Fraunhofer Spider Robot is still a prototype, but hopefully it'll be put into full production soon.
