Fragment Design and Bang & Olufsen Sees Audio Products in Black Aluminum

Hiroshi Fujiwara and Fragment Design collaborated with Bang & Olufsen on a limited-edition collection that reinterprets four of the Danish audio company’s existing products through a monochrome black finish. The lineup includes the Beoplay H100 headphones, Beosound A1 3rd Gen speaker, Beosound Shape modular speaker system, and the Beosystem 9000c CD setup. Bang & Olufsen applied a specialized anodization and hand-polishing process across the aluminum surfaces to produce a reflective liquid-like gloss finish not previously used on its portable products.

Each product incorporates Fragment Design branding through the studio’s double lightning bolt logo positioned across speaker grilles, earcups, and structural components. The Beosound Shape configuration uses seven black and gray fabric-covered modules arranged into a flower-inspired wall composition, while the Japan-exclusive Beosystem 9000c pairs the six-disc CD system with Beolab 28 loudspeakers and a Beoremote One controller.
