Minimalist Rattan Seating

Ivan Christianto's Fracture Bench is Natural Yet Industrial

The Fracture Bench, which looks like it could also be used as a low table, is simple yet captivating.

Envisioned by Indonesian designer Ivan Christianto, the Fracture Bench features rattan wood on the seat and sungaki wood for the legs; it's held tightly together with an aluminum pipe. This aluminum pipe detailing contrasts interestingly with the wood, giving it a more modern, industrial look. The fact that the aluminum isn't a traditional steel color is a nice detail that adds visual interest.

The Fracture Bench does seem to draw on the Indonesian culture while simultaneously exploring a more worldly expression.
