Rapper Mos Def Undergoes Guantanamo Bay-Style Force-Feeding

In a very graphic and disturbing four-minute video, Yasiin Bey -- formerly known as Mos Def -- undergoes the painful process of force-feeding to exploit the treatment of prisoners in Guantanamo Bay prison. Produced alongside Human Rights organization Reprieve and Bafta and award-winning director Asif Kapadia, the presentation highlights the controversial practice enforced on the international inmates, especially during the time Ramadan.

The video starts with Bey shuffling onto the set in an orange jumpsuit, shackled in chains. As he sits on the chair, his head is forced back and both his wrists become restrained under leather harnesses. Bey is then subjected to the "standard operating procedure" where a feeding tube is inserted through his nose and pushed into his stomach. By the end of the video, the rapper is seen begging the practitioners to stop and breaks down in tears.

Over 100 prisoners of Guantanamo Bay have been on hunger strike for several months and 45 of them are swallowing the torment of the Gitmo force-feeding practice.
