Half-Mile Aquatic Centers

The Flussbad Swimming Pool is Designed to Sit in the Center of Berlin

The Flussbad swimming pool recently took first place at the 3rd International Holcim Awards. The Flussbad swimming pool is a conceptual public pool that would sit in the center of Berlin. The pool would be filled with natural river water and would be the longest in the world.

Being the longest swimming pool in the world may not sound like much of an accomplishment until you learn that the Flussbad swimming pool would measure a half mile. The pool was designed by Tim Edler of united:realities. The winning of the Holcim Award should help give this project a shot in the arm, although it is not guaranteed to push it into being. You can check out conceptual renderings of the pool, along with its designer here.
