Spectacular Floral Seating

The Flower Chair by Studiobility is Where Art and Design Meet

Icelandic design studio Studiobility has created an intricately designed seat known as the Flower Chair. The seemingly simplistic seat has an elaborately folded base that takes its inspiration straight from the garden.

Studiobility was founded by Gudrun Lilja Gunnlaugsdottir and Jon Asgeir Hreinsson in Reykjavik in 2005. A line drawing of a flower was actually how the Flower Chair was first conceived. It is made of wood or shiny PVC.

Implications - These floral chairs take elements of nature and incorporate these features into a manufactured, modern design. Companies should not be afraid to look to the environment for ideas when creating products, as many consumers are attracted to these types of commodities. Fusing natural elements with manufactured goods is a great way to create a unique product.
