Using long strands of steel, artist Gil Bruvel created a series of sculptures in his 'Flow' collection. Ribbons of stainless steel were welded together to create sculptures of people and animals. Each of the Bruvel's sculptures focuses on complementary and opposing forces. In 'Flowing,' a couple is seen merged and moving together like Siamese twins. However, Bruvel's 'Dichotomy' shows a woman conflicted with herself with each half of her face made in a different way.
The sculptures in Flow were made to turn lifeless steel into something that looks natural and organic. Though extremely rigid, the steel was somehow made to look fluid and elegant. The 'Flow' collection explores themes of "beauty and pain, inner and outer, the ephemeral and the eternal now," according to Bruvel's website.
