Vintage Photo Series Shows the Flip Schulke 1970s Florida & Retirement

The life of roasted and red old folk of south Florida is apparently timeless as showcased in the Flip Schulke 1970s Florida photo series. The photographer captured the lives of the retired during the golden age. The series shows the oldies sun bathing, playing instruments, relaxing in the sun and more carefree activities of the sunshine state.

The series was meant to juxtapose the lifestyles of those in Florida versus Schulke's hometown in Minnesota, highlighting the difference of moomoo wearing grannies and scuba diving grans. The difference is clear while viewing Flip Schulke 1970s Florida through the photographer's eyes as you get a sense of nostalgia and longing for days in the sun and a retirement spent full of life and excitement. His entire collection of 11,000 photos are all at the University of Texas.
