Super Bendable Batteries

Scientists Create a Flexible Battery That May Revolutionize Gadgets

A team of Korean scientists, headed by Professor Keon Jae Lee from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, have developed an extremely flexible battery that may change the way gadgets are designed forever. The extra thin and flexible battery would help make gadgets foldable, allowing you to tuck devices with big screens into small bags and pockets.

As Mashable points out, flexible screens have already been developed, but components of these gadgets -- such as their batteries -- remain rigid. And because the battery is usually the gadget's biggest component, its rigidity usually stops the device from being very flexible. This particular flexible battery, however, may mean that gadgets from now can be bent into the shape you need.

What's more, this lithium-ion battery will retain its voltage even when its folded. Even when the battery is twisted over and over again -- as you'll see in the video -- the LED light that's powered by the battery doesn't flicker!
