Coast Salish Carvings and Prints from Pacific Northwest Artist Joe Wilson

Native American cultural tradition is combined with modern-day sensibilities and perspective in the person of Joe Wilson. Joe Wilson is originally from Koksilah near Duncan on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. He is easily one of the most prolific Coast Salish artists today.

Wilson combines brilliant, modern colors with traditional designs to create works that both pull from the past and draw toward the future. While he may be most well-known as a regional carver, he also produces prints around Native American themes.

Available at galleries and online, Wilson's work has also been featured in the Twilight Saga movies 'New Moon' and 'Eclipse.' The 'Pewter Wolf' (see gallery) was part of the dreamcatcher that Jacob gave to Bella in the film.
