City-Based Typography

This Alphabet Series is Inspired by Famous Cities Around the World

Design students Rigved Sathe and Payal Jagwani created a typography series that draws on the beauty of famous cities. As many well-seasoned travelers know, no two cities are the same. The new series uses typography to showcase the distinct characteristics of some of the world's most famous urban centers.

The series is called 'Around the World with Type' and it combines the art of typography with photographs from famous cities. Each of the 26 characters is assigned to a city that begins with the same letter. The block typeface is then filled in with an iconic image from the appropriate city. For example, the letter "L" features London's Big Ben, while "T" highlights the Tokyo Tower.

The alphabet series provides a fun way to explore some of the world's most beautiful destinations.
